36' Enclosed 24 Passenger Tour / Charter Boat "Riversong"

                                        Story Of The "Riversong"

The Riversong was originally built in 1959 as a tour boat on the historic Erie Canal.  The Erie Canal was
America's 1st superhighway for boats.  It was built in 1835 (total of 535 miles) to transport goods and people from
New York City to Lake Erie and Lake Ontario instead of having to travel over crude dirt roads by wagon train.
Remember trains, automobiles and the St Lawrence Seaway were not even a thought in 1835.  As a matter of fact
dynamite hadn't even been thought of yet (check out the construction of the Erie Canal on the internet - it's a
fascinating story).  Although largely forgotten in American folklore the Erie Canal still attracts many visitors as
tourists viewing its many beautiful hand built bridges .  For some cool information click

The
Riversong herself is a very unique boat.  She is 36' long, enclosed with a private bathroom, inside seating for
up to 18, all aluminum super structure, 50 hp Honda outboard 4 stroke motor.  From top of boat to the waterline she
is 6'11" and 8' wide.  The boat was designed for the very low but beautiful bridges of the Erie Canal and the fairly
narrow width of the canal.  Her original name on the Erie Canal was the Lola G.  She originally was built with a small
paddle wheel that turned itself by movement of the boat.  In other words the paddle wheel was "just for looks" and
not functional.  The boat also had an inboard engine that propelled it (the inboard is gone today and replaced with
an outboard motor).  We do have an original picture/brouchure mounted in the boat of what the original boat used
to look like with the paddle wheel.  The boat has had some noticeable changes made but is pretty similar to its
original form.  We often wonder who the original owners were or if they are still alive as we would love to contact
them to let them know how their boat is doing.  I think they would be very happy as I have (Captain Frank) put many
painstaking hours into refurbishing the boat.  I don't know much beyond that as there were many tour boat rides
doing business on the Erie Canal and internet info on this particular boat is non-existent.

The next location for service were one of the canals in Illinois - the Hennepin.

Next she was bought by Captain John Vize (Officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine).  He set up shop doing  a river
tour-ride on the Mississippi River near Moline Illinois.  Renaming it the Riversong which I think is very appropriate.

Newest owner Frank Stanislovaitis (single-Licensed Michigan Boat Pilot) takes the helm as of May 2010 bringing
the boat all the way back from Moline Illinois on the Mississippi River.  I am honored to take the helm of this beautiful
boat.  This has been a lifelong dream of mine.  I basically grew up "in the water" training in competitive swimming
from 8-18 years old.  I guess its no co-incidence that everything I do now revolves around the water - canoe/kayak
business - boat tour business - living on Smallwood Lake - my cottage is on Lake Superior

Spring of 2011 she will be doing summer evening and sunset river cruises and day charters for fishing, weddings,
groups, parties and reunions being docked at the
